KHUJAND, July 23, 2011, Asia-Plus — According to findings of the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption’s office in Sughd, corruption has cost Sughd province at more than 10.5 million somoni over the first six months of this year.
Husein Oqilov, the head of the anticorruption agency’s office for Sughd, remarked this at a press conference in Khujand on July 22.
“101 inspections conducted by the anticorruption officers over the report period revealed more than 10.5 million somoni worth of damage,” he said, noting that more than 9 million somoni have been reimbursed.
155 corruption-related crimes have been detected in the province in January-June this year, which is 30 cases more than in the same period last year, Oqilov added.
