Delegation of Central Committee of China’s Communist Party visits Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, August 22, 2011, Asia-Plus  — A delegation of the Communist Party of China, led by Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, yesterday visited Jomi district in Khatlon province to familiarize itself with work of rice growers in the area.

The delegation that arrived in Tajikistan on August 21 on invitation of Tajikistan’s ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) also visited the Chorbogh jamoat in Varzob district,  Usmon Solehov, head of the PDP public relations department, told Asia-Plus today.

In the Chorbogh jamoat, members of the Chinese delegation  got acquainted with activities of the Tajik-Chinese joint venture dealing with maintenance of roads.

Today, Zhou Yongkang is scheduled to hold talks with speakers of both chambers of Tajikistan’s parliament.  Today evening, Zhou Yongkang will be received by President Emomali Rahmon in the government countryside residence, Pugus.

Members of the Chinese delegation are also expected to hold talks with Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov and senior representatives of the State Committee for Nationals Security (SCNS) as well as to visit the SCNS Alpha Group (counter-terrorism unit), the Military Institute of the Ministry of Defense and a number of China-sponsored enterprises, Solehov added.

According to him, the visit of the Chinese delegation to Tajikistan will conclude tomorrow afternoon.
