Tajik ambassador asks Russian regional administrators to help Tajiks

DUSHANBE, September 29, 2011, Asia-Plus — A three-day visit of Tajik Ambassador to Russia, Abdulmajid Dostiyev, to Russia’s Ulyanovsk oblast concluded yesterday.

According to the press center of the Tajik Embassy in Moscow, during his stay in Ulyanovsk, Dostiyev held a number of meetings with local regional administrators, Federal Migration Service’s office in Ulyanovsk as well as with representatives from the Tajik Diaspora and Tajik labor migrants working there.

Dostiyev reportedly called on Tajiks living in Ulyanovsk not to forget native culture and language and be respectful to traditions, religions and languages of the peoples of Russia.

Dostiyev’s discussions with the first deputy head of the Ulyanovsk regional administration, Alexander Yakunin, focused on economic, cultural and educational cooperation between Tajikistan and the Ulyanovsk oblast of Russia.

In the course of the talks, Dostiyev asked Yakunin to help resolve issues related to providing Tajik students studying at Ulyanovsk universities with dormitory and the society of Tajiks living Ulyanovsk with an office, the source said.
