Parliament by-election in Dushanbe’s constituency # 3 to take place on Dec 18

DUSHANBE, October 17, 2011, Asia-Plus  — The Central Commission for Elections and Referenda has set a date for parliament by-election in Dushanbe’s constituency # 3 (Shohmansour district).

A meeting of the CCER, presided over by its head, Shermuhammad Shohiyon, was held in Dushanbe on October 17.

Abdumannon Dodoyev was appointed acting head of the CCER’s office, replacing Muhibullo Dadajonov who died on September 16 this year.

The meeting also set the date for parliament by-election in Dushanbe’s constituency # 3.  The by-election to fill a seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon as Safarali Rajabov, who represented the Shohmansour constituency in the lower house of parliament, died on October 5 is scheduled for December 18.

Nomination of candidates will start on October 19 and will last until November 3, while registration of candidates will be completed on November 19.   

We will recall that of 63 seats in the Majlisi Namoyandagon, 22 seats come from party lists. The remainder is elected in first-past-the-post races.
