DUSHANBE, December 2, 2011, Asia-Plus — Workers from the construction company, Somon Sokhtmon, which is engaged in construction of the National Choikhona (Tajik traditional teahouse) along with two other construction companies, have not come to work today. According to builders, they have not come to work because of delays in wage payments.
One of builders, who wanted to remain unnamed, said he has worked at the site for construction of National Choikhona since October 2011. “Under the contract, I was to receive 1,100 somoni in October and 1,400 in November,” said he, “However, I have received nothing to this day.”
He stressed that Chinese workers involved in the construction of the National Choikhona were receiving their wages without any delays.
“Because of delay in wage payments, many builders did not come to work, and therefore, the main work has been suspended,” the builder noted.
