KULOB, January 4, 2011, Asia-Plus  — 173 cases of land grabbing were reported in ten districts of the Kulob region, Khatlon province in 2010, the Kulob land committee head Tohir Saidov told Asia-Plus today.

Besides, 422 instances of use of land without appropriate certificate were recorded in the area last year, which is also violation of the country’s land legislation, Saidov said.

“In all, our specialists recorded 818 instances of the violation of the land code in 2010,” the Kulob land committee head said, noting that 400 hectares have been returned to the crop rotation.

Violators have been fined a total of 216,410 somoni; 165,374 somoni have already been exacted from the violators, Saidov added.
