DUSHANBE, January 10, 2012, Asia-Plus — The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has opened online media registration for the 45th Annual Meeting of ADB’s Board of Governors, to be held on May 2-5, 2012 at the Philippine International Convention Center in Manila, the ADB Tajikistan Resident Mission (TJRM) reports.
About 4,000 participants including finance ministers, central bank governors, senior government officials, and representatives from the private sector, academe, media, and civil society are expected to attend.
Attendance is by invitation only. Online registration will remain open until 20 April 2012.
The theme of the 2012 Annual Meeting is inclusive growth through better governance and partnerships. Seminars will discuss the impact of global financial turmoil on Asia; new opportunities for growth in Asia; the role of key emerging economies in ASEAN, People”s Republic of China, and India; regional trade and financial integration; urban disaster risk management; climate change; and food security.
Accredited media will have access to all major Annual Meeting events, including seminars. Accreditation is extended solely for covering the Annual Meeting.
ADB”s Annual Meetings allow Governors from ADB member countries to provide guidance on ADB administrative, financial, and operational directions. The meeting also provides opportunities for member governments to interact with ADB staff, non-government organizations, media, and representatives of observer countries, international organizations, academe, and the private sector.
