DUSHANBE, February 29, 2012, Asia-Plus — A seminar “Sustainable development: A key factor for stability and peace in Central Asia” organized by the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) with support of the Government of Finland will take place on 1-2 March, 2012, in Tashkent, the UNRCCA press center reports.

The purpose of the seminar is to analyze the impact of socio-economic processes on security and stability in Central Asia and look for ways to further implement the concept of sustainable development in the region.  The seminar will cover such areas as sustainable development, security and regional cooperation; social sustainability; economic stability; energy security; climate change and other environmental challenges.

The two-day seminar will bring together representatives from the institutes of strategic studies, Governmental structures and academic circles of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as international experts.
