Tajik authorities provided humanitarian assistance to quake-affected Tavildara region.

140 tents, foodstuffs, including 15 tons of flour, 3.750kg of sugar and rice, 1.500 liters of oil, 1.500kg of macaroni and construction materials were allocated from the Government’s reserve fund for disaster-affected Tavildara region, a spokesperson for Tajik Government’s Emergency and Civil Defense Committee Munira Nazarieva told AP.

“One-time financial assistance was provided to 150 residents of Childara Jamoat of Tavildara region where recent disaster destroyed 75 and caused severe damage to another 70 houses. Similar assistance will be provided to residents of other disaster-affected villages,” she said.

According to Nazarieva, special governmental commission, which is headed by deputy chairman of the Emergency Committee Rustam Shoev, is estimating the total damage caused by the earthquake.

The Emergency Committee said that a series of international organizations, including REACT partner organizations, have expressed their willingness to provide assistance to Tavildara region. However, they need final data on the total damage caused by the disaster.

The Government also provided foodstuffs to Rasht region and Khatlon area which suffered damage as a result of heavy rainfalls.
