Official press release

Mr. Hiroyuki IMAHASHI, Ambassador, Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Tajikistan, Ms. Tojinisso MAHMADOVA, Deputy Minister of Education and Mr. Suhrob OKHUNOV, Chairperson of Kuhistoni Mastchoh district attended a handover ceremony at the Secondary School No.8 in Ivan Tojik jamoat of Kuhistoni Mastchoh district.

“The Project for Construction of Secondary School in Rogif Village, Ivan-tojik Jamoat, Kuhistoni Mastchoh District” with the total amount of 111,604 USD supported by the Government of Japan in the framework of Grant Assistance for the Grass–roots Human Security Projects (GGP) has been successfully completed.

Ivan Tojik jamoat of Kuhistoni Mastchoh district with the population of 12,400 people is located in a mountainous area. Due to absence of a suitable school in the Rogif village of Ivan Tojik jamoat, school children had to go to a neighbor village, which is located in far distance. Walking for a long distance made it difficult for students to study effectively.

The new school building of 252m², including a teachers’ room and six classrooms was constructed by the grant. The new school ensures proper and safe educational environment, which helps students to reduce time to commute to school and make time for study. Improvement of education environment by the project will contribute to long-term positive influence on grow of youth and development of this region.
