This year’s locusts combat season is about to finish in Tajikistan. As reported by Tajik Ministry of Agriculture, this year locusts invaded a total area of 68.300ha. This is 57.200ha less as compared to the same period last year.

According to the source, this year’s locusts combat campaign involves related agricultural machinery, equipment and manpower.

“More than 50.000ha were treated with pesticides by May 25,” the source has said.

As reported by the Tajik Ministry of Agriculture, Khatlon area suffered most from this year’s locusts invasion. The total area invaded with locusts exceeded 40.000ha.

Locusts invasion was registered in Sughd area and regions of republican subordination.
