In the course of today’s session of the Majlisi namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan of the fourth convocation deputies supported the government’s amendments to the Law on pensions.
According to the amendments, which were presented by Tajik Minister of Labor and Social Protection Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov, minimum pensions and salaries will no longer be equal.
“The amendments were offered by Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon in his annual message to the Parliament on April 20 this year,” minister said.
In his message to the parliament E.Rahmon said that from September 1 salaries of workers of secondary schools and pre-school institutions, orphanages, boarding schools for people with disabilities and retirement homes will be increased by 60%, wages of culture workers by 50%, workers of health care, social protection, sport and other education institutions will be increased by 40%, wages of scientists and workers of universities by 30%.
Simultaneously, President announced 2.5-fold raise in minimum wages, scholarships of students will increase by 50%. Thus, minimum wages will increase from 80 to 200 Somoni.
At the same time, minimum and maximum pensions will increase by 30%. Pensions which make less than 150 Somoni will be set equal to 150 Somoni.
In other words, starting from September 1 this year pensions of at least 380.000 people will be set equal to 150 Somoni.
The move will require more than 350mln Somoni of additional funds.
