The Government of Tajikistan has set up a Supervisory Council to control restructuring of OSHC Barqi Tojik.
As reported by the Government’s press service, the resolution was approved yesterday, May 30, at a regular session of the Government. The Council is headed by Tajik Prime Minister Aqil Aqilov.
In a previous report in November last year chairwoman of the Barqi Tojik’s Department of Restructuring and Stuff Training Uguloi Hojaeva said that Tajik Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Tajik electricity company prepared a series of normative acts on restructuring of the Tajik energy holding.
She said that Statute on Supervisory Council and its structure as well as the Statute on interdepartmental working group, which consists of representatives of related ministries and departments, was designed in accordance with the Government’s resolution on approval of individual plan for restructuring of OSHC Barqi Tojik for 2011-2018 of August 30.
“According to the resolution, the council, which is headed by Tajik Prime Minister Aqil Aqilov, will control implementation of the individual restructuring plan and structural changes in the Tajik energy company,” she said. “The interdepartmental working group will identify priority directions for the restructuring plan and will be responsible for its successful implementation.”
Hojaeva stressed that foreign consultant, who will design and implement the OSHC Barqi Tojik restructuring program, will be selected through tender.
She added that the restructuring campaign will be divided into three phases – commercialization (2011-2013), competitiveness (2014-2015) and privatization (2016-2018).
“In the course of the first phase of the restructuring plan, Barqi Tojik will remain the only legal entity. However, a total of three business structures – generating, transferring and distributing – will be set up for implementation of the plan,” she explained.
