KHUJAND, June 12, 2012, Asia-Plus — President Emomali Rahmon, who is currently on his working visit to the northern Sughd province, has inaugurated a number of new enterprises in the territory of the Sughd Free Economic Zone (FEZ).
Three new industrial enterprises – the Turkish Silkoat Boya producing paint materials, the Star Plast enterprise producing plastic pipes and the Ravzana Plast enterprise producing plastic window and doors — were introduced into operation in the FEZ Sughd on June 12.
Besides, an exhibition of industrial enterprises operating in the territory of the FEZ Sughd was launched today.
26 industrial enterprises of Sughd, including three enterprises operating in the FEZ Sughd (Nekon, Ofarin and Skorut Taj), have put on display their outputs at the exhibition.
According to the statistical data from the FEZ Sughd administration, enterprises operating in the territory of the FEZ Sughd have manufactured more than 3 million somoni worth of output over the first three months of this year and investments for a total mount of 1.75 million U.S. dollars have been attracted over the report period.
In January, the FEZ Sughd administration signed a memorandum of cooperation with the administration of the FEZ Leilek in Kyrgyzstan. The sides agreed to exchange economic development information and jointly seek partners for financing and implementation of the production projects in the FEZ Sughd.
The FEZ Sughd has also prepared for signing draft memorandums of cooperation with the EBRD’s TAM/BAS Program, the administration of the FEZ Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan’s Consulting Company JK Group.
