DUSHANBE, July 26, 2012, Asia-Plus  – Tajik President Emomali Rahmon has canceled his visit to London to attend the London Olympics Opening Ceremony, a well-informed source in the Tajik Government, told Asia-Plus Thursday afternoon.

He, however, failed to say why President Rahmon decided to cancel the visit to London.  We will recall that President Emomali Rahmon received invitation to attend the London Olympics Opening Ceremony that will take place on July 27 in April.

Besides, President Rahmon was scheduled to meet with members of Tajikistan’s Olympic team in London today.

Experts say President Rahmon canceled the visit to London because of the latest developments in Khorog, the administrative center of Gorno Badakhshan, where the military operation targeting a group suspected of involvement in the killing of the chief of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office in Gorno Badakhshan is going on.  The situation remains tense in Khorog.
