DUSHANBE, August 15, 2012, Asia-Plus  — The Dushanbe migration service agency intends to establish the coordinating committee for migration issues.

An official source at the Dushanbe migration service agency says the committee will be established in line with mayor’s order to analyze activities of the Dushanbe-based economic entities recruiting foreign citizens for work.

According to him, the new committee is dedicated to help combine efforts of the municipal authorities and civil society to solve the labor migration issues.  “The committee will be a platform to discuss solution to the labor migration problems,” the source said.

According to the Dushanbe migrations service agency, more than 70 percent of Tajikistan’s economic entities are based in Dushanbe.

Inspections conducted by specialists from the Dushanbe migrations service agency have reportedly revealed that some economic entities do not observe the proportion of foreign to local workers.

Under the country’s legislation, local workers must constitute at least 70 percent of the total number of employees, the source stressed.

Mostly labor migrants from China work in Tajikistan today.  There are also guest workers from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.

According to the statistical data from the Migration Service under the Government of Tajikistan, 186 foreign labor migrants have been deported from Tajikistan over the first six months of this year for violation of Tajikistan’s migration legislation.
