Some 7.8 bln somoni worth of industrial goods produced in Tajikistan in Jan-Oct 2012

DUSHANBE, November 16, 2012, Asia-Plus  — Over the first ten months of this year, Tajikistan has produced a total of some 7.8 billion somoni (equivalent to more than 1.6 billion U.S. dollars) worth of industrial goods, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Compared to January-October 2011 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods amounted to nearly 110 percent.

Over the report period, 581 enterprises (60 percent) have exceeded the January-October 2011 production level.  However, there were 90 enterprises, or 9.3 percent of the overall number (968), that were not in operation in January-October 2012.

Processing industry has accounted for 69 percent of the overall volume of industrial goods produced over the report period, enterprises producing and distributing electric power, natural gas and water have accounted for 18.2 percent and mining industry has accounted for 12.8 percent.

Of the 89 basic types of industrial products the output of 50 items (56.2 percent) has increased, and the output of 32 items (35.9 percent) has decreased over the report period.  Seven basic types of industrial products (7.9 percent) were not manufactured.

Enterprises subject to the Ministry of Energy and Industries (MoEI) have produced some 2.8 billion somoni worth of goods in January-October this year, which is 22 percent more than in the same period last year.

Cotton-processing enterprises have produced more than 822 million somoni worth of output over the report period, which is 40 percent more than in January-October 2011.

Enterprises that are not subject to a MoEI have produced more than 1.1 billion somoni worth of goods over the same nine-month period, which is 13 percent more than in January-October 2011.
