DUSHANBE, February 20, 2013, Asia-Plus  — An operation by officers from the Drug Control Agency (DCA)’s office in Khatlon province has led to the seizure of a large amount of drugs in the Shouroobod district.

According to the DCA press centers, Opel-Astra was stopped in the Sarichashma jamoat yesterday on suspicion of drug trafficking.

“50 pressed bricks of narcotics drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 43 kilograms and two packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to raw opium weighing some 4 kilograms were found in the cars,” the source said.

The preliminary investigation has established that the seized narcotics belong to resident of the Sarichashma jamoat.  Criminal proceedings have been instituted against him and an investigation is under way.
