DUSHANBE, November 18, 2013, Asia-Plus — Foreign Minister Hamrokhon Zarifi heading Tajik delegation today left for Brussels, Belgium to attend the next European Union – Central Asia ministerial meeting that will take place there on November 20.

On Friday November 15, Tajik foreign minister met here with representatives of the Department of Energy, Geological Survey and Research Institute of the United States, according to the Tajik MFA information department.

The sides reportedly discussed issues related to state and further expansion of cooperation between the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and relevant agencies of the United States in seismology, exchange of experience and professional development of young specialists and researchers.  

The United States Department of Energy (DOE) is a Cabinet-level department of the United States government concerned with the United States” policies regarding energy and safety in handling nuclear material.  Its responsibilities include the nation”s nuclear weapons program, nuclear reactor production for the United States Navy, energy conservation, energy-related research, radioactive waste disposal, and domestic energy production.  DOE sponsors more research in the physical sciences than any other U.S. federal agency

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is a scientific agency of the United States government. The scientists of the USGS study the landscape of the United States, its natural resources, and the natural hazards that threaten it. The organization has four major science disciplines, concerning biology, geography, geology, and hydrology. The USGS is a fact-finding research organization with no regulatory responsibility.
