DUSHANBE, November 22, 2013, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan has diversified liquefied gas deliveries, according to the Ministry of Energy and Industry (MoEI).

This year, Tajikistan has been importing liquefied gas not only from Kazakhstan but also from Russia and Turkmenistan, an official source at a MoEI said.

Over the first ten months of this year, Tajikistan has reportedly imported 174,028.90 tons of liquefied gas, which was 108,000 tons more than in the same period last year.

, 20,098 tons of liquefied gas were imported to Tajikistan last month, which is 2,623 tons more compared to September 213.

Kazakhstan provides the bulk of Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports.  Over the report period, Kazakhstan accounted for 89.3 percent of Tajikistan’s liquefied gas imports, Russia – 8.3 percent, Turkmenistan – 3.3 percent, and Kyrgyzstan – 0.1 percent.

Current prices for one tone of liquefied gas are US$569.00 per for liquefied gas delivered from Kyrgyzstan, US$590.00 for liquefied gas delivered from Kazakhstan, US$650.00 for liquefied gas delivered from Turkmenistan, and US$813.00 for liquefied gas delivered from Russia.  

Tajikistan imports liquefied gas by tanker and rail car.  More than 40 percent of Tajikistan’s transportation now uses liquefied gas due to high gasoline prices.

Over the same ten-month period, 107,726 tons of gasoline have been imported, which was 23,617 tons fewer than in the same period last year.

Current price for one liter of liquefied gas in Dushanbe is 3.70 somoni, while current price for one liter of 92-octane gasoline is 6.40 somoni.
