DUSHANBE, November 27, 2013, Asia-Plus – Over the first nine months of this year, Tajikistan’s exports to Afghanistan included mainly electricity, ferrous metals, and fuel (liquefied oil gas), according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).
Over the report period, fuel has accounted for 30 percent (24.3 million U.S. dollars) of goods exported to Afghanistan from or through Tajikistan, and electricity has accounted for 34 percent (27.5 million U.S. dollars) of Tajikistan’s exports to Afghanistan, an official source at a MoEDT said.
According to data of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Afghanistan over the same nine-month period has valued at 131.7 million U.S. dollars. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports Afghanistan estimated at 81 million U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Afghanistan worth 50.7 million U.S. dollars.
In January-September 2013, Tajikistan’s exports to Afghanistan reportedly included 2.6114 billion kWh of electricity, 3.9 million U.S. dollars worth of ferrous metals, 2,300 tons of fruits and vegetables worth 475,300 U.S. dollars as well as equipment and vehicles.

, says that 50 million kWh of electricity was supplied to Afghanistan by Sangtuda-1 and Sangtuda-2 hydroelectric power plants in October, that is 1.1 million kWh more compared to the same period of last years.
Tajikistan’s imports from Afghanistan over the same nine-month period included 21,900 tons of mineral fertilizers for 6.9 million U.S. dollars, 29,300 tons of sugar for 14.5 million U.S. dollars, 200 kilograms of meat for 200,000 U.S. dollars, and 204,300 tons of cement for 16.7 million U.S. dollars, etc.
