DUSHANBE, January 27, 2014, Asia-Plus – Reports about the delay in letting Tajik nationals pass at Manas International Airport do not correspond to the facts, Ms. Gulmira Borubayeva, a spokesman for Kyrgyzstan’s Sate Border Service, told Asia-Plus on the phone Monday afternoon.

According to her, Tajik nationals proceed via border control points at the Bishkek airport without any obstruction.

“Flights from Dushanbe to Bishkek are conducted in accordance with schedule and there are no any restrictions for Tajik nationals on proceedings via the border control points at Manas International Airport,” Borubayeva noted.

She noted that no any restrictions have been imposed for crossing Kyrgyzstan’s common border with Kazakhstan.  “The Uzbek authorities have unilaterally introduced restrictions for proceedings via border crossings points (BCPs) on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border and temporary restriction has been introduced for proceeding via BCPs on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border until the situation on the disputed segments of the border is stabilized,” Ms. Borubayeva said, adding that border control points at airports operate in a routine regime.

We will recall that dozens of Tajik nationals have reportedly been delayed at the Bishkek airport for several hours in recent days.

37 Tajik nationals, who arrived in Bishkek on January 22, were delayed at Manas International Airport for several hours for additional inspection.  Kyrgyz border guards reportedly justified the additional inspection for Tajik nationals by saying that they received a relevant instruction from the Kyrgyz State Border Service to inspect Tajik national for involvement in an extremist activity.

Besides, several Tajik nationals were reportedly delayed at the waiting room of Manas International Airport in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek for several hours in the evening of January 26.
