DUSHANBE, March 18, 2014, Asia-Plus — Tajikistan intends to gradually give up the export of raw materials and increase domestic processing capacities, Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Saidrahmon Nazriyev, announced at a conference on the obligations arising from membership of Tajikistan in the World Trade Organization (WTO) in the field of telecommunications and broadcasting in Dushanbe on March 18.

“Following its accession to the World Trade Organization, Tajikistan has got the right of imposing export duties on more than 300 items of raw materials,” Nazriyev noted.

According to the International Trade Center (ITC), cotton fiber and primary aluminum account for some 75 percent of Tajikistan’s export basket.
