Tajikistan, Bahrain sign eight agreements and memoranda of understanding

DUSHANBE, May 29, 2014, Asia-Plus – On Wednesday May 28, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, was received by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the Sakhir Palace, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reports.

An official protocol reception was held for the Tajik President upon arrival at the Sakhir Palace and the national anthems of the two countries were played.

After that, official talks were held between the Bahraini side led by HM the King and the Tajik side led by President Emomali Rahmon, in the presence of HRH the Prime Minister.

The two sides reportedly discussed bilateral friendly relations as well as ways of expanding areas of joint cooperation in the political, economic, trade and investment fields.

The sides also discussed a number of regional and international developments and issues being of mutual interest.

According to BNA, HM the King welcomed the visit of President Rahmon to the Kingdom, stressing Bahrain”s keen interest to consolidate relations and cooperation with Tajikistan in different fields so as to benefit from the two countries” capabilities in order to achieve common interests.

HM the King expressed hope that the visit would contribute to creating new areas of collaboration in addition to cultural, tourism and economic communication between the two friendly countries.

President Rahmon voiced delight at visiting the Kingdom and meeting HM King Hamad.

He expressed sincere gratitude and appreciation to HM the King for warm welcome and hospitality accorded to him and his accompanying delegation.

Then, HM the King held a meeting with the President of Tajikistan, in the presence of HRH Premier.

They affirmed the importance of developing bilateral collaboration in all fields in addition to benefit from both parties” expertise in supporting joint projects and programs so as to achieve mutual joint interests.

BNA reports that eight agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU), including an MoU on bilateral consultation between the two countries Foreign Ministries signed by Foreign Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and his Tajik counterpart Mr. Sirojiddin Aslov, were signed in presence of HM the King and the Tajik President.

The two ministers also signed an agreement on exchanging aviation services between the two countries” governments.

A MoU on enhancing cooperation in cultural and art fields was also signed between the Foreign Minister of Bahrain and Tajik Minister of Culture Shamsiddin Orumbekov.

Another MoU on tourism was also signed between the Bahraini Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Committee for Youth, Sports and Tourism Affairs under the Government of Tajikistan Maliksho Nematov.

The Bahraini Minister of Finance Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and his Tajik counterpart Abdusalom Qurbonov signed an agreement on the avoidance of double taxation between the countries” governments.

The Minister of Finance of Bahrain also signed an agreement on encouraging and protecting investment with the Chairman of Tajikistan’s State Committee on Investments and State-owned Property Management Qodir Qosim.

He also signed a MoU with the Tajik Minister of Economic Development and Trade Sharif Rahimzoda on economic, commercial and technical cooperation.

The Minister of Health of Bahrain, Sadiq Al-Shehabi signed a MoU on cooperation in the health fields with the Tajik Health Minister Nusratullo Salimzoda.

After that, Tajik President met Bahrain government Ministers while HM the King greeted the Tajik President”s accompanied delegation, BNA reports.
