DUSHANBE, June 22, 2014, Asia-Plus – Two women form Khujand, the capital of the northern Sughd province – Nargizakhon Usmonkhojayeva, 33, and Manizha Rahimova, 27 – have got long jail terms for human trafficking.

The Khujand city court sentenced Nagrizakhon Usmonkhojayeva and Manizha Rahimova to eight years in prison each on June 19.  They will serve their terms in a general regime penal colony.

The sentence followed charging Usmonkhojayeva with recruiting people for exploitation (Article 132 (2) of Tajikistan’s Penal Code) and charging Rahimova with human trafficking committed by a group of persons in a preliminary collusion with transporting outside Tajikistan (Article 130 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code).

Investigators say Usmonkhojayeva and Rahimova were found guilty of using young woman form the northern city of Isfara as a sex-slave without her consent in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

They reportedly promised to find a good job abroad for the woman, brought her to Dubai and forcibly took her documents from her and sold her into sex-slavery for $7,000.
