DUSHANBE, September 25, 2014, Asia-Plus — Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan, Khudoberdi Kholiqnazar, notes that uncontrollable armed formations of Islamist radical organizations  cause the main problems for security of Central Asia’s nations.

According to him, these formations are the most dangerous for the region’s security today.

“Among them are the Islamic Party of Eastern Turkestan, Akramiay, Jamaat Tabligh,  Jamaat-ul Mojahideen of Central Asia, Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and some others,” said Tajik think tank

“Activities of these organizations, aiming at dissemination of radical ideology and undermining the state foundations for the purpose of overthrowing constitutional order, are posing the most serious threats to Central Asia’s security,” Mr. Kholiqnazar noted.

At the same time, he stressed that a circle of religious extremist organizations active in the region cannot be limited only to the extremist organizations acting under the banner of Islam.  “Today there are many various religious groups in the region that could be labeled as extremist organizations,” Mr. Kholiqnazar said.
