DUSHANBE, January 14, 2015, Asia-Plus — An activist of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Suhrob Sharipov, and Ruqiya Saidova, the daughter of the Islamic Revival Party (IRP) founder Said Abdullo Nouri, will compete for a seat in the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) as both have been nominated to run for election in the Shohmansour constituency (Dushanbe).
Suhrob Sharipov, 52, graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy, Moscow State University in 1988. He has scientific degree of Doctor of Sciences in Politology. He has been deputy of the Majlisi Namoyandagon since December 2011. From 2005 to December 2011, he served as director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan.
Ms. Ruqiya Saidova is an expert in politics. She graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Tajik National University and Tehran National University. The IRP nominated her to run for election on January 13.
Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Tajikistan (DPT) has also nominated its activist and known Tajik journalist Ahmadsho Komilzoda to run for election in the Shohmansour constituency.
We will recall that Suhrob Shsripov represents this constituency in the current Majlisi Mamoyandagon.
“The PDP has nominated Mahmadali Vatanov to run for election to the Majlisi Namoyandagon in the Firdavsi constituency (Dushanbe),” Usmon Soliyev, the head of the PDP public relations department, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
Mr. Vatanov represents this constituency in the current Majlisi Namoyandagon.
