DUSHANBE, January14, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov yesterday met here with the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan, Ambassador Hidajet Biscevic.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, Aslov and Biscevic discussed a broad range of issues related to cooperation between the Tajikistan and the European Union.  They, in particular, discussed regional security, the current economic situation in the country, water-and-energy problems as well as some international and regional issues being of mutual interest.     

The European Union is made up of 28 Member States who have decided to gradually link together their knowhow, resources and destinies.  Together, during a period of enlargement of 50 years, they have built a zone of stability, democracy and sustainable development whilst maintaining cultural diversity, tolerance and individual freedoms.  The European Union is committed to sharing its achievements and its values with countries and peoples beyond its borders.  To this end the EU is active in Tajikistan since 1992 and provides approximately EUR 25 million annually in development assistance.
