DUSHANBE, April 6, 2015, Asia-Plus — Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd reportedly intends to invest in development of coal mining in Tajikistan.

Tajik Minister of Industry and New Technologies Shavkat Bobozoda met with top managers of this company here on April 3.

According to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT) press center, Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd is ready to invest in exploration and development of coal fields in Tajikistan, delivery of modern technologies and equipment to Tajikistan for production of coal that will be used in chemical industry and for production of metals and operation of coal-fueled power plants.    

Top managers of Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd have arrived in Tajikistan to study some coal fields and receive license for development of one of them.   

Founded in 2004, Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd, with headquarters in Xi”an, explores, develops, and mines coal.  As of 2011, it was reportedly the third largest coal company in China.  In 2011, it ranked 158th among China top 500 enterprises and 35th among Chinese top 200 most efficient enterprises and first among Shaanxi”s most efficient enterprises.  As of 2012, the Group owns or has shares in nearly 60 enterprises with total of 128,000 employees.  Its main subsidiary is Shaanxi Coal Industry.

In addition to operations in China, the group has invested in a fertilizer plant in Argentina and plans to invest in a coal mine in Australia.
