Dushanbe, Islamabad to collaborate in preventing crime

DUSHANBE, May 6, 2015, Asia-Plus — Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rahimzoda yesterday met here with newly appointed Ambassador of Pakistan to Tajikistan Tariq Iqbal Soomro.

According to the Interior Ministry press center, the two discussed issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan in fighting transnational crime, terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking.

It was reportedly noted that legal foundation of cooperation between the law enforcement authorities of the two countries has expanded.  In 2004, Tajikistan and Pakistan signed a government-to-government agreement on collaborating in combating drug trafficking.

Besides, a government-to-government agreement on collaborating in preventing crime has been drafted and it is currently under consideration.

Ramazon Rahimzoda and Tariq Iqbal Soomro also pointed to the necessity of intensifying joint efforts to combat terrorism and organized crime, the source said.
