Iranian provincial governor expected to visit Khatlon province in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, June 2, 2015, Asia-Plus – Tajik Ambassador to Iran Nematullo Emomzoda on May 31 met with Mohammad Naser Nikbakht, Governor-General of Iran’s Hamadan Province.

According to the Tajik Embassy in Tehran, the meeting was held ahead of Nikbakht’s visit to Tajikistan.

Mohammad Naser Nikbakht will visit the Tajik southern province of Khatlon and the sides reportedly discussed issues related to expansion of bilateral cooperation between the city of Hamadan and Kulob, its sister city in Tajikistan.

Emomzoda and Nikbakht, in particular, discussed increase in student quota for Tajikistan, attraction of investments and expansion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, transportation, education and health care.

Hamadan Province is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Its center is Hamadan city. Other major cities of Hamadan province are Toyserkan, Nahavand, Malayer, Asad Abad, Bahar, Famenin, Razan and Kabudrahang.  The province has a population of over 1,820,000 million.  The province is divided into 8 Shahrestans (counties), which in turn are divided into 23 Bakhshs (districts) in total.
