CASA-1000 has started to assess a number of tender offers

Dushanbe. 26 August. “Asia Plus” — Subcommittee of purchase of regional CASA-1000 project has started to assess a number of tender offers on designing, supply and installation of the equipment.

According to the official website of the CASA-1000, in particular assumes the supply and installation of the multi-terminal HVDC transformation station in Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

It should be noted that the project of transmission and trading of electricity in Central and South Asia (CASA-1000) includes the construction of a high voltage power lines for the exports of electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, until the end of the year the general contractor of the project will be selected, and then begins the immediate work on the construction of power transmission lines. It is expected that this project will be completed in 2019.

Total cost of the CASA-1000 project is more than $ 1 billion.

For the implementation of Tajik part of the project, according to the feasibility study and financial model of the World Bank, $ 314 million is needed.

The Ministry of Energy emphasized that the Tajik aria of the transmission line will be built at the expense of international financial organizations and the government of Tajikistan.

Until now a grant agreement with the World Bank has been signed in the amount of $ 45 million, a loan agreement with an Investment Bank of Europe in the amount of 70 million Euros (approximately $ 80 million.) and a loan agreement with the European Bank for the Reconstruction and Development ($ 110 million.). The contribution of Tajik Government in the project is provided for $ 15 million.
