Kazakh president arrives in Tajikistan on an official visit

DUSHANBE, September 14, 2015, Asia-Plus — Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived in Tajikistan today on an official visit.   

A number of new cooperation documents are expected to be signed between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan during Kazakh leader’s visit to Tajikistan.

According to the Tajik MFA, the documents are aimed at further expansion of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.        

Tajikistan and Kazakhstan are expected to sign an agreement on strategic cooperation here today, a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus today.

According to him, the two sides will also sign documents on bilateral cooperation in the fields of education, culture, sports, technical protection of information, labor migration and mutual protection of rights of citizens of the two countries.

Tajikistan and Kazakhstan will also sign a program of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries in 2016-2017, the source said.

During his official visit, Kazakh leader will hold talks with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon and speaker of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament.

According to some sources, Kazakh leader is also expected to visit the city of Tursunzoda to get acquainted with operations of the Tajik aluminum smelter and achievements of Tajik gardeners.

While in Dushanbe, Kazakh leader will also took part in a session of the CSTO Council of Heads of State that will take place in the Tajik capital on September 15.
