Partners for development reportedly reduce aid provided to private sector and industry in Tajikistan

Date:

DUSHANBE, September 28, 2015, Asia-Plus — External donors’ commitments on supporting development of the private sector and industry in Tajikistan have reduced this year three times compared to 2014, according to the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GoKomInvest).

An official source at GosKomInvest says this year’s commitments of partners for development on providing assistance to the private sector and industry amount to little more than 8 million U.S. dollars.

In 2014, they provided more than 21.3 million U.S. dollars worth of assistance, which was 5.4 percent of the overall volume of assistance provided to the country last year, the source said.

Last year, among the partners for development the greatest share of assistance to the private sector and industry reportedly came from the British Department for International Development (DFID) – US$9.2 million, the Government of Germany – nearly US$3.4 million, and the European Union – US$830,000
