DUSHANBE, October 14, 2015, Asia-Plus — In Tajikistan, inflation for the first nine months of this year has stood at 3.6 percent, which was 2.1 percent fewer than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
In September, Tajikistan’s inflation reportedly stood at 0.4 percent, 0.2 percent higher than in September last year.
Over the same nine-month period, prices of foodstuffs have increased by 3.4 percent. Non-foodstuffs have risen in cost by 4.1 percent in January-September. Over the first nine months of this year, prices and rates for services rendered to the population have increased by 3.7 percent.
An official source at the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) says Tajik The government expects the year-end inflation to stand at 7.5 percent in 2015.
Last year, inflation reportedly stood at 7.4 percent, 0.1 percent lower than it was originally forecasted.
We will recall that the Trading Economics website reports that Tajikistan in 2013 had the lowest inflation rate among Central Asia’s countries.
In Central Asia, the highest average inflation rate in 2013 was recorded in Uzbekistan – 7.0 percent. In Turkmenistan, inflation last year stood at 6.0 percent, Kazakhstan – 4.5 percent, and Kyrgyzstan – 4.0 percent. In Tajikistan, the year-end inflation stood at 3.7 percent in 2013.
