On the 10th of December Tajik Ambassador in China Rashid Alimov has donated to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China two unique ornamental art works of Tajik masters made in the original style, which is called “kundal”.

“In translated from the Tajik-Persian language “kundal” is a paradise of flowers. This painting technique originates from the prosperity of the Silk Road”, – said the ambassador. “Thanks to the efforts of President Emomali Rahmon during the years of independence in the Republic of Tajikistan many lost kinds of national arts and crafts in the past days got its second birth. “Kundal”, which in the 21st century is experiencing its Renaissance period, is among them,” – said Alimov.

Today, a growing number of architectural structures in Tajikistan are made out of this rich ornamental painting. “Navruz Palace” in Dushanbe capital is a unique example of national art in urban planning of the capital of Tajikistan. In September 2014 in the magnificent and unique halls of the Palace held a historic summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the first state visit of the President Xi Jinping.

Alimov stressed that “kundal” is not only the original art, bold combination of colors and unusual interlacing of patterns, but also the symbolic message from the past to the future. This is a kind of invitation to dialogue, dialogue of cultures and civilizations. A vivid example of such dialogue are good-neighborly and friendly relations between Tajikistan and China, experienced their rapid rise and best times. The ambassador hopes that decorating the new office building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, these two paintings will serve as a symbol of the strong, indestructible and eternal friendship between the Tajik and Chinese peoples.

Gratefully accepting the gift of the Tajik Ambassador, the Deputy Director-General of Department on work with diplomatic corps Jiang Qi said that “kundal” made out of vivid colors and stunning craftsmanship, has great artistic and cultural value. We can say that “kundal” is a treasure of Tajikistan, which it generously shares with his friends”.
