President Rahmon receives federal minister for water and power of Pakistan

DUSHANBE, January 12, 2016, Asia-Plus – On Tuesday January 12, Tajik President received Federal Minister for Water and Power of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

The two sides reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

Rahmon noted that Tajikistan is optimistic about prospects of friendship and cooperation with Pakistan.

For his part, Pakistani minister highly appraised outcomes of Tajik president’s state visit to Islamabad in November last year.

Rahmon and Asif also discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Pakistan in the fields of energy, transportation, and mining.

Pakistani minister noted that Pakistan provides US$1 million worth of humanitarian aid for the victims of devastating earthquake that hit the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) on December 7.

We will recall that Federal Minister for Water and Power of Pakistan Khawaja Muhammad Asif arrived in Dushanbe yesterday on a two-day working visit.

 

Khawaja Muhammad Asif is a Pakistani parliamentarian, banker and a politician affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League (N) who currently serves as the Federal Minister for Water and Power and also maintains the additional charge as the Defense Minister of Pakistan.  He also had a short-tenure in the Petroleum ministry in the Gillani cabinet.
