Tajik family in Russia will rename son Rasul for Putin

Date:

A family of immigrants from Tajikistan, living in the Vladimir region of Russia, made a decision to change the name of their son. Once the documents will be signed by the head of the district administration, the boy will become Putin instead of Rasul.

Juraev family is from Tajikistan, but has been living in Russia for a long time — first they arrived in Moscow, and then moved to Legkovo (Alexandrovsk district) village. Their son Rasul is now a year and a half.

To change the boy's name suggested his grandfather Rahmon Juraev. He's a fan of Vladimir Putin, he has even a small Museum dedicated to the Russian President in the house. "I once read that in Egypt the child was given the name Putin, and thought, why this cannot be in Russia," — he explained to journalists. On family council this idea was supported and parents handed in an application for name change.

Deputy Head of the district administration Svetlana Povalyaeva said that officials found no grounds for refusal, and soon the family will be given a document permitting the name change.

In June 2016, the Egyptian journalist and translator Moamen Mukhtar called his son Putin in honor of the Russian President. The choice of name he explained that "there are hundreds Vladimir and only one Putin".
