The ceremony of opening of the Research-and-development center of ecology and environment of Central Asia took place on Monday, August 29, in Dushanbe, reports the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

This Centre is opened under the Institute of Geology, antiseismic construction and seismology of Sciences Academy of the RT. The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim, the President of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Farhod Rahimi, as well as the official delegation of China.

Research-and-development center of ecology and environment of Central Asia is the first joint scientific institution of Tajikistan and China.

This center is created on the basis of the Agreement on scientific cooperation between Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and Academy of Sciences of China, signed on 13 September 2014.

The main objectives of the Center are: to conduct fundamental and applied research in the field of natural Sciences; development of actual scientific and applied projects in the field of ecology and environment, natural resources and agriculture; study of the processes of climate change and its impact on the environment, biodiversity and natural ecosystems; development of scientific research in the field of Geology, including the organization of the laboratory of physicochemical methods of analysis of rocks, minerals and ores; wide application in scientific research of modern methods of remote sensing from space and GIS technologies; import of innovative technologies, technical means and scientific equipment in the Republic of Tajikistan; development and introduction of innovative technologies into manufacturing; training of highly qualified scientific personnel, improving the professional level of scientific employees, graduate students and doctoral students through their active participation in the development of joint research and innovation projects.
