In the first quarter of 2026, the number of marriages and divorces in Tajikistan decreased. According to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, 14,913 marriages were registered in the country over the reporting period, while 1,893 marriages were dissolved over the same three-month period.
The highest number of families was formed in the Sughd province, and the lowest in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO).
The number of marriages decreased by 18.5% compared to the first three months of 2025, when 18,288 couples formed families.
The highest divorce rate is in the Sughd province, and the lowest is in the Khatlon province.
According to the Agency for Statistics, this year, the overall marriage rate per thousand people in Tajikistan has been 5.6, and the divorce rate has been 0.7.
Divorces in Tajikistan have remained one of the hot topics in society for several years. Although the responsible authorities claim that the divorce statistics in the country are declining each year, it still causes concern.
Previously, the country’s Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs reported that 8,535 marriages were dissolved in the country last year.
