300.04 kilograms of narcotic drugs were burnt in a special narcotic-burning incinerator of the Drug Control Agency (DCA) in Dushanbe on September 23, according to the DCA press service.

A totaled reportedly included 40.408 kilograms of heroin, 20.252 kilograms of raw opium, 179.088 kilograms of hashish, 63.072 kilograms of cannabis, and 217 MDMA pills.

The drugs were confiscated by drug control officers, border guards and customs officers the course of 2015-2016 and they were burnt in the presence of representatives of law enforcement and judicial bodies and local and foreign media, the source said.

More than 17 tons of narcotics have reportedly been burnt in the DCA incinerator since the Tajik counter narcotics agency was established.  

Ms. Salamat Azimi, the Minister of Counter Narcotics of Afghanistan, and Ms. Ashita Mittal, UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia, reportedly also attended the Friday narcotic burning ceremony. 

On September 20, Ms. Salamat Azimi met here with Sherkhon Salimzoda, the Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan.  The two discussed issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in combating drug trafficking and carrying out joint antidrug operations  

According to the DCA press center, Tajik and Afghan drug control officers have carried out eleven joint operations over the past two months.  446 kilograms of narcotics drugs, including 331 kilograms of raw opium and 800 liters of precursors have been seized in those operations.

Besides, eleven drug traffickers have been detained and one heroin producing lab has been destroyed in those joint operations.
