Amendments to be made to the law on the president’s symbols

Date:

A group of deputies of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament have worked out a bill requiring amendments to the country’s law on symbols of the president of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The amendments, in particular, provide for installing president’s standard in places of celebration of official holidays, at official receptions, as well as during president’s annual addresses to the parliament and the ceremonies of presentation of state awards in the presence of the president, a source at the Majlisi Namoyandagon told Asia-Plus in an interview.

Recall, deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon unanimously endorsed a bill on symbols of the president of Tajikistan on June 30, 2006.

The symbols include president’s standard and insignia.  The president’s standard is a tricolor flag 1m x 2m (colors of Tajikistan’s national flag) featuring the image of lion with seven star around it, and the president’s insignia looks like the 1-Grade “Star of the President” Order.
