Tajik President Emomali Rahmon today morning departed for Yerevan, Armenia on a two-day official visit. The visit that is being held at the invitation of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan is expected to result in signing of a number of cooperation documents.
Presidential advisers on international and legal issues, heads of the ministries of foreign affairs, health care, education, economic development and trade, as well as heads of a number of committees and agencies are accompanying President Rahmon on his visit to Armenia, according to the Tajik president’s official website.
Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Armenia were established on October 12, 1992. Legal foundation of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Armenia includes a number of intergovernmental and intersectoral agreements.
According to data of the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Armenia last year valued at little more than 269,000 U.S. dollars. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Armenia estimated at little more than 264,000 U.S. dollars and Tajikistan’s imports from Armenia worth 5,000 U.S. dollars.
