Two persons were killed and at least four others injured on July 13 as minivan plunged into the river in the Sangvor (formerly Tavildara) district, according to the Interior Ministry’s website.
The accident took place near the Tavildara jamoat, the 51st kilometer of the Darvoz-Sangvor-Labijar road, at around 4:00 pm.
A rock broke away from a mountain and hit a cowl panel of minivan Hyundai Starex with passengers on board that was moving from the Darvoz district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) to the Nourobod district. As a result, the driver lost control of the minivan and it plunged into the Hingob River, the website said.
Two passengers – 22-year-old woman from Rushon district (GBAO) and 52-year-old woman from Hamadoni district (Khatlon) province — died on the spot, while four other persons, including two girls aged 10 and 11 from Darvoz district, sustained various injuries and were taken to the Sangvor central district hospital.
