The Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD) will support organization of the preventive medical examination of the population of remote mountain areas in Tajikistan with use of mobile medical complexes, the so-called Caravans of Health.
The EFSD delegation has recently visited Tajikistan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan to discuss conditions for awarding first grants.
According to the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) press center, the EFSD plans to provide 5 million U.S. dollars to implement health projects in the mentioned countries.
For the project targeting Tajikistan, the EFSD will purchase two articulated trucks and organize their further functioning for the purpose of providing as much as possible population of mountain areas with primary health care.
The Caravan of Health aims to support improvement of the quality of life for the population of mountain areas.
Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (the former EURASEC Anti-crisis Fund) is an international financial institution established by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan with the goals to assist its member nations in overcoming the consequences of global financial crisis, to ensure their long-run economic stability and to foster economic integration of EFSD member-countries.
The Fund assists member states with the following instruments: financial credits, available to governments only; investment loans, provided either to EFSD member states or to companies implementing interstate and national investment projects; and grants to finance government programs in social sector.
