Tajikistan’s external trade turnover estimated at 3.9731 billion USD in 2017

In 2017, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power, amounted to 3.9731 billion U.S. dollars, which was 101.1 percent of the 2017 level or 43.3million U.S. dollars more, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance last year was negative and amounted to 1.5768 billion U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods in 2017 reportedly amounted to 1.1981 billion U.S. dollars, which was 33.3 percent or 299.5 million USD more than in 2016.

Over the report period, imports of goods into the country amounted to 2.775 billion U.S. dollars, which was 8.5 percent or 256.3 million U.S. dollars less than in 2016.

Compared to December 2016 Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover last month reportedly increased by 6.3 percent or 23.5 million U.S. dollars.  

Last year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 109 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In 2017, major Tajikistan exports partners were: Kazakhstan – 27.1 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; Turkey – 19.5 percent; Luxemburg – 10.4 percent; Afghanistan – 8.3; Switzerland – 7.5 percent; Uzbekistan – 4.8 percent; Taiwan – 4.1 percent; China – 3.0 percent; Russia – 2.7 percent; Iran – 2.5 percent; etc.      

Over the same period, major Tajikistan imports partners were: Russia – 32.6 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; China – 20 percent; Kazakhstan – 18.5 percent; Turkey – 3.9 percent; Germany – 3.8 percent; Uzbekistan – 2.5 percent; Iran – 2.2 percent; etc.       

The bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Russia last year valued at 936 million U.S. dollars (9.7-percent decrease compared to January-December 2016) and the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and China in 2017 valued at 591 million U.S. dollars (336-percent decrease compared to 2016t).

Meanwhile, the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan last year amounted to 838 million U.S. dollars, which is 24 percent more than in January-December 2016.
