More than 125,000 new jobs were created in Tajikistan last year, the Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population, Sumangul Taghoizoda, told reporters in Dushanbe on February 6.
“More than 48 percent of those jobs (more than 60,000) are the permanent ones, more than 24 percent of them are the temporary jobs, more than 23 percent of them are seasonal, 1.1 percent of them are the additional jobs and some 3.0 percent of them are the restored jobs,” the minister said.
According to her, most new jobs last year were created in the agrarian sector.
In 2017, 119,422 people reportedly applied to the labor and employment agencies; 49,239 of them were given a status of unemployed and 78,385 others were registered as job-seekers.
“More than 49,000 people were placed in jobs last year due to implementation of the national employment support program, which was 26.7 percent more than in 2016,” Ms. Taghoizoda noted.
She further added that 720 fairs for vacancies were held in Tajikistan last year, which was 18 fairs more than in 2016.
More than 8,400 enterprises and organizations reportedly participated at those fairs, offering on average 10,000 vacancies per month.
“8,417 people have been placed in jobs at those fairs,” the minister said.
