A 21-year-old woman from the northern city of Istaravshan has been detained on suspicion of trying to murder her newborn baby, according to the Interior Ministry press center.

Married woman reportedly tried to kill newborn son after hiding pregnancy and throwing the baby into the lavatory.

The woman, who secretly gave birth in the home toilet in the morning of February 21 four months after marriage, threw her newborn son into the lavatory, the Interior Ministry press center says

Fortunately, members of the family heard the newborn’s cry and saved him.  They reported to police and the woman was arrested.

Criminal proceedings have been instituted against her and an investigation is under way.
