Tajikistan and Azerbaijan sign 12 new cooperation documents in Baku,

Twelve new cooperation documents have been signed during Tajik President Emomali Rahmon’s official visit to Azerbaijan.

On Friday August 10, President Emomali Rahmon held talks with his Azeri counterpart Ilham Aliyev in the Azeri capital, Baku.  Subsequently, an extended meeting took place, with the participation of delegations from the two countries.

The negotiations resulted in signing of twelve new cooperation documents, according to the Tajik president’s official website.  

The leaders of the two countries signed a joint statement.

The State Committee on Investments and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest) of Tajikistan and the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, the Tajik Aluminum Company (TALCO) and the Azerbaijan Industry Corporation signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, the Committee for TV and Radio-broadcasting of Tajikistan and Closed Joint-Stock Company (CJSC) Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, and TALCO and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) signed a memorandum of understanding on providing TALCO with petroleum coke.

Besides, the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Tajikistan and the State Border Service of Azerbaijan signed an agreement on training of personnel for Tajik border troops at the Academy of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan and a government-to-government agreement on cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan in the sphere of veterinary was signed.  

The Ministries of Education of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan signed an agreement on annual allocation of student quotas for Tajikistan.  The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan and the Prosecutor-General’s Offices of the two countries signed agreements on mutual cooperation.

The Foreign Ministries of Tajikistan and Azerbaijan signed the program of cooperation or 2019-2020, sad the Tajik president’s official website.

 Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan were established on May 29, 1992.  Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, bilateral and multilateral relations of Tajikistan with Azerbaijan have been developing in the spirit of mutual respect.  Tajikistan and Azerbaijan are partners at the international level in the framework of organizations such as UN, OSCE and CIS.
