Pakistan proposes to hold roundtable in Dushanbe with participation of entrepreneurs of both countries

Date:

Pakistan’s diplomatic mission in Dushanbe proposes to hold a roundtable in Dushanbe with participation of entrepreneurs of both countries in the second half of September.

Mr. Rashid Imtiyaz, Commercial Secretary at Pakistan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, reportedly turned to the leadership of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CIS) with such a proposal.

Pakistani diplomat proposed to hold the roundtable with participation of businesspeople of both countries in Tajikistan in the second half of September, according to the CCI press center.

The event is reportedly aimed at promoting establishment of cooperation between the business communities of the two countries through exchange of information about activities of enterprises and their export/import potential for the purpose of increasing a two-way trade between the two countries.

According to data of the State Committee for Statistics, the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Pakistan over the first seven months of this year has valued at more than 45 million U.S, dollars, which was 2.2 times more than in the same period last year.  This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Pakistan estimated at little more than 5 million USD and Tajikistan’s imports from Pakistan worth some 40 million USD.

Last year, the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Pakistan amounted to some 42 million USD, which was 25 percent fewer than in 2016.
